Please send us an email, tell us what gender you are looking for and what your intentions are for the puppy, ie: companion, work, etc.

You can also include our Puppy Application if you'd like, but ask first if we have any puppies or have done a breeding before you take the time to fill it out.  Just copy and paste it in an email and return it to us. We do not need your personal info at this time, but we do need your name and a way to contact you. This application is required at some point for anyone who is seeking a puppy from us.

We will reply to your inquiry. Emails are preferred as the info that we can send out answers most questions.

All of our breeding dogs are hip & elbow x-rayed and/or hip x-rayed. We have genetically tested several dogs over the years  for vWD (von Willebrand’s disease, a bleeding disorder), Hemophilia carrier status *females* (a bleeding disorder genetically passed from the female line), have done Thyroid panels and have had eyes checked.

Our German shepherd puppies our born in a spare upstairs bedroom. They have a separate heat source for the first few weeks of their life.  Mom and pups have total privacy and separation from our other dogs, until she is ready to mingle again.

By the time our German shepherd puppies are 5 weeks of age they have graduated from goat’s milk and goat’s milk mixed with human baby powered rice cereal, to soaked puppy food with goat’s milk added as a broth, soon to be eliminated. At this age they are eating 2 meals a day and mom is getting a break for a few hours at a time, soon to be increased.  Those teeth are sharp when they try to nurse and they try to latch on to her when she’s walking around the room.

Nails too can hurt and they have by now had their nails trimmed 3 times.

The puppies are 99% paper trained by 5 weeks of age and have the space (and us cleaning up after them several times a day) which allows them to know that they sleep “here” and they do their business “ on the paper”.

Toys are introduced during the 4th week. The various toys with rolling ability and different sounds are beneficial to the puppies development.

We also keep a plastic adult sized crate (Vari Kennel type) in the room so that they can sleep in there if they want to. This will make it easier for night time when you take over. We take off the door as German shepherd puppies are investigators and can get a toe stuck, so it is safer this way.

Our German shepherd puppies will have been dewormed at least 4 times and will have a vet exam by our Veterinarian before they leave with you and will have their first vaccination!

Please visit our "puppies" page for pictures of prior German shepherd puppies and don't forget to read our testimonials!

We try our best to put the right puppy in the right home so we do ask a lot of questions and welcome questions from you too!

We want to know that our German shepherd puppy is happy and we want the new owner happy as well.

A German shepherd puppy is a long term commitment and the purchase of one should be well thought out and discussed with family members.

Each puppy that leaves Sander-Haus will leave with:
* AKC registration papers
* An exam by our veterinarian
* A health record listing vaccinations/wormings
* A warranty contract
* A pedigree
* A sample supply of food
* A leash & collar
* And advise for the lifetime of your dog!

We reserve the right to refuse a puppy placement. We do not let pups go to everyone who wants one. Please do not be rude if we say no. We have had the breed for decades and the breed is not for everyone at every time in their life. Too many dogs have to be rehomed because people insisted they were ready and would not listen to someone with more experience, but you can easily find breeders who won't ask you any questions and yes you will pay at least double, but that may be what you have to do. We will try our best to help you and make suggestions that can make it work.

We reserve the right to adjust prices unless a
reservation has been made.

You will find if you have contacted several German shepherd breeders in Virginia and on the East coast, that our prices are usually below what others are asking for similar lines. That is if you realize what good pedigrees are. Sure you can buy something cheap from the paper or a puppy mill and good luck to you. Frankly we can't purchase German shepherd puppies for what we are asking for them from other breeders or by importing. We have not profited in the many years in the German shepherd dog breed that we love and do not break even year to year, however breaking even is a goal and there is nothing wrong with that. We spend alot on importing, our facilities, the foods that we use, vet care, flea and tick control, etc, that it has to date been very hard to come close to breaking even. Cutting corners though is not an option as the dogs come first.

Our German shepherd puppies for sale will still remain priced below most with similar lines in the area. This allows more good homes to acquire a well bred dog and this gives us more potential German shepherd puppy homes to talk to.

Most of the requests that we get are for family dogs, dogs that can work in AKC/UKC obedience, agility & tracking and herding and first and foremost be loyal and loving members of their family.

We have had great luck in the past and hope to find some very nice families for our upcoming litters!
